Return a core to BDE

Use this page for BDE core-charge refunds, core exchanges, and eligible core sales. Submit the form before shipping so BDE can match the package to you and generate a printable packing slip with a cut-out address label.

60-day refund windowFor core-charge refunds, BDE must receive a good usable core of the same type originally supplied within 60 days of purchase.
Customer pays shippingYou are responsible for shipping cost and proper packaging. Damage or loss caused by inadequate packaging is not BDE’s responsibility.
Condition affects creditRust, external damage, stripped threads, broken bosses, damaged gasket surfaces, coatings, or non-stock modifications can reduce credit or make a core unacceptable.
BDE inspects on arrivalBDE will evaluate the cores after receipt and determine whether they are acceptable under the applicable core guidelines.

Core return policy

No powder coated or chromed cores are accepted under the general return form. Cores should be the same type purchased and should not have obvious external damage, excessive rust, or non-stock modifications. Some repairable damage may be accepted at BDE’s discretion with reduced credit.

You are responsible for shipping cost and proper packaging. Submit this form before shipping so the package can be matched to your return.

General acceptance

  • Cores should not be obviously modified. Some damage may be accepted at BDE’s discretion with a proportionate reduction in payment or refund.
  • Chromed cores of any type are not accepted.
  • Powder coated balance tubes are not accepted.
  • Powder coated VTCs may receive reduced value depending on coating and internal condition.
  • Powder coated or painted upper plenum cores are not accepted for purchase or exchange. BDE may still modify and return the same customer-owned part, but the coating or paint may be damaged and BDE does not repair the finish.
  • Ported or gasket-matched plenums are not accepted for core exchange. BDE may still modify and return the same customer-owned part.

Damage and packaging

  • The customer is responsible for all shipping expenses.
  • The customer is responsible for proper packaging and for preventing excessive movement or metal-to-metal contact during shipment.
  • Heavy external rust on VTC cores can reduce refund value by 25%. Internal rust can reduce refund value by 75%.
  • Stripped threaded bolt holes can reduce core refund by $15 per hole.
  • Broken threaded bolt bosses can reduce core refund by at least $45 per hole.
  • Damaged gasket surfaces can reduce core refund by $40 per surface.
  • BDE is not responsible for cores lost or damaged during shipping.
  • BDE documents damage and can provide condition evidence to the customer.

Core-charge refunds

  • Core-charge refunds require good usable cores of the same type originally provided by BDE, received within 60 days of purchase.
  • Refunds are generally issued within one week of receiving the cores.
  • Where transaction fees apply, the refunded amount may be reduced by the non-refundable payment-processing fee associated with the original transaction.
  • BDE can accept cores in advance of a purchase to avoid a core charge. BDE does not ship the applicable product until the required core or core-charge payment has been received.

VTC cores

BDE may separately buy eligible Early and Late VG30DE(TT) VTC cores after inspection. VTC condition, rust, packaging damage, coating, and internal wear can affect value. Follow any VTC-specific packaging instructions provided by BDE.
